The cylinder liner is a cylindrical part placed in the cylinder block hole of the engine body and held in place by the cylinder head. The piston reciprocates in its inner hole and has cooling water outside.
The lateral thrust of piston on cylinder liner not only increases the friction of its inner surface, but also causes its bending. When the side thrust changes direction, the piston also hits the cylinder liner.
The thickness of the piston generally tends to decrease. It is mainly restricted by the two contradictory factors of the combustion pressure and the reduction of the temperature gradient. The thickness is too thin, the ability to bear mechanical load is poor, will cause mechanical deformation; If the thickness is too thick, the temperature gradient is too large, causing too much thermal stress and thermal deformation. Therefore, the piston head thickness varies with the maximum combustion pressure of the engine, the cylinder diameter, whether there is oil cooling, and the combustion chamber form.
